How To Make a Topiary

how to make a topiary

I love easy crafts, don't you? Today I've got a very, easy, creative project for you. One that doesn't take but just a few minuets to do - Making a Topiary!

Topiaries are pretty to look at, fairly inexpensive to put together, and make a statement in the room.

As promised on Monday, here is the how-to on making a topiary. This was my 1st ever attempt at making one and I found that it was pretty easy and straight forward to do. Hopefully you'll think so to! I also put all the step by step instructions on a pdf that you can print off and use.

Spring on My Mantel

spring mantle

I made some small changes to my mantel this weekend. I saw this yellow spring wreath at Hobby Lobby and decided that it was just what I needed to perk up my den! It reminds me that even in the bleak, cold winter months, spring is right around the corner.

Storing Outgrown Baby Clothes

how to store baby clothes

Last night I got around to sorting through all the baby clothes to find a good, permanent storage solution that will work for the long haul. One of the things that I love to do is to organize! And doing this project was no different. I know, I'm one of a kind strange. Since having kids, I've organized so many different children things all around my house. From organizing craft supplies to finding effective ways of corralling all the many toys. Today I am going to share my method of how I organize children's clothing and shoes. It is a tried and true way of keeping all the outgrown clothes in storage until I need them again.

Quick and Easy Apron

how to make a apron

This past weekend I made an apron. I've been wanting to do it since Christmas and finally did it. This apron is super cute and relatively easy to put together. It took me about 3 hours to sew - 1 for the main body, than 2 for the apron strings and neck ties. I'm not quite sure why it took so long to cut out and sew all the strings/ties, perhaps I took too long talking on the phone cutting everything out.  I used this apron tutorial. The only changes I made were these:

Here are my top baby gear items that I found to be so useful when I brought my baby home from the hospital. These are the top essential baby items that new moms should have on their baby registry. Everything is such a huge life saver when you have a new baby.

All Tiled Up

How to fix shower tile that leaks

This week the hubby and I were able to fix our shower leakage problem! The old tile had to be ripped out, the curb fixed, new tile laid, and last night I was finally able to grout. I'll seal the grout lines tomorrow than on Monday, we'll have the shower door re-installed. The finish line is in sight and I am so grateful that this can be crossed off the to-do list!

Bathroom Update

bathroom tile repair

So like I shared yesterday, the master bathroom shower curb needed to be fixed so that it will not  leak water anymore. The guy that installed the shower door came by yesterday afternoon and took the doors off, then the hubby and I ripped the tile out. Here is what it currently looks like:

My to-do list

to do for January

Christmas stuff has been organized and put away and I'm in the mood for fresh, new, and simple things everywhere. In general, my house is pretty organized and things in their place - most times, not all times! Each year after the Christmas decorations have been taken down and put away, I feel a urge to re-organize, pair down, and simplify my house. I don't want to put the same stuff back on the mantle, I want to change it up. I want to bring in greens and yellows and white. I want houseplants around (although I know they won't survive for very long in my house!), I want to decorate for spring, I want to do some new projects. I want to go through each closet, drawer, and cabinet cleaning out things and reorganize everything! I do hope that I'm not the only one who has this mindset!!

Open Bathroom Storage

open bathroom storage

Here is a quick and easy storage solution that I came up with for our bathroom necessities. I have an extremely small master bathroom with little storage and no counter space. There was no place to keep some of the toiletries that have to be used on a daily basis. As one can imagine this was getting to be a problem each time we ran out of toilet paper! Yikes! So after a little bit of brainstorming, here is the solution I came up with -
