On Comfort Zones

never quit trying

You know what the greatest enemy of success is? Fear. Fear of messing up. Fear of not being good enough. Fear of being out of our comfort zone. So it stops us. It holds us back. Recently I've been thinking about fears and facing a few that I currently have in my life. And you know what? It's scary. I'll have this big idea, this desire in my heart, but fear holds me back from trying something new.

This plays out in our houses all too well. We fear picking out the wrong paint color, so walls go unpainted. We fear putting nail holes in the wall so pictures go unhung. We fear doing so many things, so we play it safe making the safe choices.

But you know what? If the biggest thing that can go wrong is that I embarrass myself or have to repaint a wall, than it is well worth it. At least I started. At least I tried something new. At least I can say that I tried.

How I Keep My House Toy Free

how to keep house toy free

So it's no great secret that I love to organize and I strive to keep clutter to a minimum. My little girl is 2 years old and when I learned that she was on her way, I knew that I would do whatever it took to keep my house from looking like a toy store. After all, baby girl moved in with us, not the other way around. But, anyone with a child will know that toys seem to multiply like rabbits! Here is how I keep all our toys and books organized on a daily basis.

One of the places I like to shop at online is West Elm. I recently received a new West Elm catalogue in the mail and I found a few things that I just love.  Here is my virtual shopping trip ~

How to Make a Jewelry Board

how to make a jewelry board

Last year, I shared how I keep my jewelry organized. I truly love this system! It works wonders for me but, I was tired of the yellow. It really wasn't working with the direction I'm wanting to take in the master bedroom. So, it was time for a quick re-do.

New "About Me" Page

Y'all, I did it,
I finally did it! After 17 months of blogging, this blogger has an "official" bio page. I actually wrote something about myself! Which is way harder than I thought it would be. You see, I really don't like talking about my deep thoughts - my accomplishments, dreams for the future, and the like. I feel like when I do, all my secrets come pouring out and I would rather keep everything to myself - just ask my sweet husband! I'm getting better at sharing, or so I think, but it's still hard sharing personal information about myself. But I really enjoy talking about my house and things I'm working on - which is why I started this blog in the first place - so go figure that one out!

Back Porch Tour

Do you remember the tour of my old house? The one that I started last July? Yes, its almost been a year and I'm finally, finally doing the very last post! This one is for the back porch and yard. Some things that I love about this house is the big backyard, all the large trees, and the wooden privacy fence. Three things that you don't always get in my area of the country.
