We've all got things that drive us crazy, my most recent crazy spot? Magazines. I get a few in the mail each month and they were pilling up higher and higher. Part of the problem was that I didn't take the time to look though them and the other problem was where to put them after I finished. The past few years I've had a designated spot on the bookshelf for them but, they were getting bent and recently being pulled out by a certain toddler. So I took a few mins over the last couple of days and fixed this problem once and for all. First, I gathered all the magazines up and laid them out in a few piles.
Next, I sorted through them and took out the ones that I didn't want anymore so they can be donated to the library. I picked up 3 white magazine holders from Target last week for $5 each. They are perfect! 3 is all I need, if I want to keep a new one or two, than one of the older magazines will have to find a new home. I labeled each holder and put them back on the shelf. Now everything is in order and looks clean. No more magazines falling over, edges getting bent, or magazines being pulled out.
I've actually wanted some of these things for a couple of years, so why haven't I bought any before now?! That is the question I keep asking myself. Here's my plan for keeping things neat and organized - 1. don't let the magazines pile up. Take a few mins to flip through them when they come in the mail. 2. file away what I want to keep and donate the rest to the library. (Since I go to the library 2 or 3 times a month this step won't be too hard to do.) And there is my 2 step plan to keeping things nice and orderly.
What little organizing projects have you done recently? What small things have a big impact on your daily life? Any other magazine horders out there?

I am not kidding....You need to come to my house and help me. I bought some magazine organizers at Ikea last week but I have well over 100 magazines. I parted with a bunch but something about magazines and books gets me....they are like an addiction.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean! I've been frequenting the library so my book collection doesn't get out of control. Thanks for stopping by!
