4 Tips to Organizing Toys

Tips to organize kids toys well

You all know my love or organizing. I've talked at length about keeping my house toy free, how I organize craft supplies, tips and tricks to keeping toys organized, talked about challenges to overcome when organizing, what to do with kids clothes, and more. Since I am a natural organizer, you would think that by now, my kids have also turned into natural organizers and perfect little people who always know how to keep their toys picked up and off the floor. Ha, if only!

Despite my best efforts, my little people are natural mess makers. If they had it their way, we would be buried in a sea of legos, barbies, coloring supplies, dinosaurs, and constantly stepping on all the things. Fortunately though, thanks to several functional storage systems in place, this is not our reality.

I have found several things that help immensely when it comes to keeping all my children toys, treasures, and things neatly organized at the end of the day. I am confident that if I can maintain a level of organization in my home with my 4 mess makers, so can you. Here are some of my best tips and tricks when it comes to keeping all the things in order around the house.

7 Tips to Selling Your House Quickly and Efficiently

How to get your house ready to sell in just 14 days

We own 2 houses right now - yes 2! We live in our primary residence and have rented the other house out for 3 years. When the last tenants moved out, my husband and I decided to not rent again and instead sale the house. It took hours and hours of cleaning, painting, and fixing this & that, but it is done and show ready. I even staged the house to make the house feel more like a home instead of a vacant house. I wanted to walk you through my home selling process in case you too are needing to sell your house and would like some practical steps to take in getting your house prepared to sell.

Ribbon Organization

After taking some time off from blogging for out of town travel, vacation, and such, I'm  back! I've got a few things around the house to share and organization things to done. It always seems like September brings with it a renewed sense of "let's get some things done/organized/cleaned". I think it's the cooler mornings that say fall is coming. Or maybe it's just me. Ha! Now that the piles of laundry is done and the fridge is stocked again, I feel like I can start working on my various projects once more and finish up the old house tour (eventually!). So I'm ready to get after it again. Who's with me?!

Cleaning Closet - DONE!

Remember Mondays post about the cleaning closet? Where I opened up a not-so-organized closet door and showed you behind the scenes spilling my catch-all little secret? I showed you how it looked like this ~

The Cleaning Closet

organizing the cleaning closet

Ever feel like you've got one of those areas in our house that need cleaning and organizing? You know it needs your attention, but you just keep putting it off until "tomorrow". But here's the thing, "tomorrow" never comes! Before you know it weeks have past and you still keep avoiding the problem spot. Maybe I'm the only one who does this, maybe not. My problem spot is the cleaning closet. I've got 2 closets in the main part of my house (outside of the bedroom closets). One looks at you when you enter the house and the other is in the dining room. This is the one I've affectionally named the cleaning closet. This is the main closet in the house were I store all my cleaning supplies, paper towels, toilet paper, vacuum cleaner, swimming supplies, small tools - basically everything that helps run this household! Once upon a time everything was nice and neat all contained in baskets. But, for the past few months it has looked like this ~

My to-do list

to do for January

Christmas stuff has been organized and put away and I'm in the mood for fresh, new, and simple things everywhere. In general, my house is pretty organized and things in their place - most times, not all times! Each year after the Christmas decorations have been taken down and put away, I feel a urge to re-organize, pair down, and simplify my house. I don't want to put the same stuff back on the mantle, I want to change it up. I want to bring in greens and yellows and white. I want houseplants around (although I know they won't survive for very long in my house!), I want to decorate for spring, I want to do some new projects. I want to go through each closet, drawer, and cabinet cleaning out things and reorganize everything! I do hope that I'm not the only one who has this mindset!!
